Navigate to VMware Fusion Player page:
Click on “Create an Account”:
Enter login information. You can use the address for Durand Building and the Aero/Astro department phone number:
Navigate to VMware page again
This time, click on “I Have an Account” and log in
Navigate to the License & Download tab, and click “Manually Download”. Take note of the license key, as this will be used later in the setup.
Open the downloaded .dmg
file and install VMware Fusion (enter the License key above when prompted)
Now that you’ve got VMWare Fusion Player installed, download the ISO for Ubuntu 22.04 ARM from this link: https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/jammy/daily-live/pending/jammy-desktop-arm64.iso. Please DON’T try to use any other ISO!
You’ll see a new page with options to modify the number of CPU cores and the amount of RAM your VM has access to. Change the CPU cores option to at least 4, and the RAM to as much as you can spare (we recommend at least 8192 MB — factors of 2 are more performant). After you’ve done this configuration click the “Show All” button to return to the main configuration pane.
